The Power of the Right Timing No One Talks About

What comes to your mind when you hear the phrase ‘the right timing’? A necessary condition for a happy relationship? Or something more metaphysical, such as being in the right place at the right time so that things happen the way they are meant to? Whatever your interpretation is, there is also a more obvious yet more powerful meaning of this concept that many of us tend to overlook. People often refer to the idea of timing when talking about relationships and life-changing coincidences. Sometimes it is given a shade of spirituality: ‘it was the right timing, it was meant to happen’. Some also use this phrase when talking about the right circumstances that helped them achieve their goals. “It was the right moment to start a business” or “I found this vacancy just at the right time when I most needed it”. But what if I told you that there is a more prosaic interpretation of the right timing that has a huge impact on our lives? Ironically, we often neglect it without even realizing it. My parents were trying to talk me into changing my mind.

They would say I was too young, inexperienced, and had no money. “Why don’t you work for a few years, accomplish something, save some money, and then move?” This is what my father would say. But I was determined to do it and I did it. And it turned out to be a good decision – my life got on the right track a couple of years after moving. Sometimes I catch myself thinking that if I had postponed it for ten or even five years, then most likely, I would have never done it. By nature, I’m not a daring person. That decision was fueled by enthusiasm, fearlessness, and positivity that accompany youth. But all these things fade away with age if you are a naturally anxious, indecisive person. Now I would probably be too scared to make such a big step and such a huge change. If you are enthusiastic about something, don’t put it on hold. Don’t postpone your dreams and aspirations. Thinking “I will do it later when I’m older/more experienced/more financially stable/etc.” is a sure road to never accomplishing it. Do it RIGHT NOW. Why? Because it’s now that you have the necessary energy and passion to fulfill your dream. Now is the right timing. Five, ten, or twenty years later you may no longer have that twinkle in your eye. You may no longer feel your heart beating faster when thinking about your goal or dream. And yes, you may no longer see any sense in even trying.

There is no sadder picture than a person in their 50s or 60s looking back at their broken dreams with a bittersweet smile. Someone who asks themselves a question with a regret seeping through every word, “Why didn’t I give it a try? I wanted it so much. I could have lived a very different life.” If you have a dream or a hobby that makes you happy and gives you a sense of meaning, chase it right now. Don’t fool yourself by saying that you will do it later.

The right timing is not about finding a good job opportunity or starting a business when the circumstances in the market are favorable. Yes, these things are important too, but they are not as powerful as your inner attitude. Enthusiasm is a much stronger driving force than any external condition.

The right timing is about having that sparkle of passion in your heart that drives you to pursue your dream. Because without it, you won’t have enough energy and effort to move towards your goal, no matter how favorable the outer circumstances are. So, don’t lose that sparkle. As long as you have it, don’t give up on your dreams and don’t postpone them. Now is the right moment to chase them.
