The result? The Church Leader was—unsurprisingly—mauled by the lion.
The Zion Christian Church Leader, Alec Ndiwane, was exploring Safari when he was attacked by the pack of Lions. According to reports, the man tried to repeatedly provoke the animals, in order to ‘inspire’ faith in the members of his church. As noted by media, the Church Leader fell into a trance and started speaking in an unrecognizable language before deciding to charge at the lions in South Africa’s notable Kruger National Park. Luckily, the man escaped with his life, despite the fact that he decided to sprint towards the Lions who, at the time, were busy mauling a previous victim. Shortly after realizing that God would not intervene, Mr. Ndiwane began fleeing the scene, but not before the Lions managed to take a sweet bite off his buttocks. And while God did not intervene to save Mr. Ndiwane, the Zion Christian Church Leader was saved from more serious injuries by a park ranger who fired a few warning shots from his gun, not at the lions, but just to scare them off, so they wouldn’t Eat the man alive, notes GhanaWeb. Speaking about the occurred, Mr. Ndiwane said: “I do not know what came over me. I thought the Lord wanted to use me to show his power over animals. Is it not we were given dominion over all creatures of the earth.” As noted by the Daily Mail, Mr. Ndiwane was transported to the Local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and received a couple of stitches for his act of ‘stupidity’, and was eventually discharged from the hospital. However, according to Africa Check, a website that fact-checks claims made in African media, the incident may have never taken place. Kruger National Park spokesman William Mabasa called the story a hoax. “The Kruger National Park is not aware of any such incident taking place anywhere in the park. It would have been reported to us if any of our rangers had taken part in this incident as reported,” Mabasa told Africa Check. Africa Check also notes that the image is of ‘lion whisperer’ Kevin Richardson. Kevin’s wife Mandy confirmed to Africa Check that it was her husband kneeling in front of lions in the picture. “He is a Christian but not part of the ZCC church group,” she said.
