Full Moon In Leo: Innovative & Reforming Action

We are having a Full Moon in Leo on January 28th in the West and on the 29th in most Eastern countries.

Full Moon In Leo: Innovative & Reforming Action

It will appear the brightest on the night of the 28th for the majority of the world and on the night of the 27th for those in Western North America. This is the peak of the Lunar cycle that began with a New Moon in Capricorn on January 12th/13th. The energies of a Full Moon are strongest in the days surrounding it yet its astrological configurations also play a part over the following two weeks. You may start to see its themes slowly build up after the New Moon prior. Full Moons are a period in which we feel a push-pull between two opposing signs, in this case being the Moon in Leo and the Sun in Aquarius. It can play out as either a conflict, an integration, or some sort of dynamic between the energies of both signs.

The Moon reflects the expression of feeling and emotion while the Sun reflects the expression of ego and conscious self. Christine Schaffner will help you learn the basic principles of energy, frequency and vibrational healing! We may feel this opposition happening individually within us and/or we can also experience it play out around us with some people (or circumstances) expressing the Leo side and others expressing the Aquarian side. In some cases, Full Moons can also reflect/trigger some sort of change or release. Leo is a passionate Fire sign. It is about our individual self-expression, what brings us joy and inspiration. It is associated with the heart, love, creativity, performing, fun, children, romance, hobbies, and leadership. Leo is about what makes us shine as individuals and can be courageous and generous. Expressed negatively, Leo energy can also be egotistical, pompous, dramatic, and demanding of attention or respect. Aquarius is an intellectual Air sign. It is associated with friends, groups, social networks, the team, and humanity. It views the unique and authentic qualities of an individual as an important and contributing factor to the collective. Aquarius is progressive, unconventional, innovative, technological, scientific, reforming, idealistic, and even revolutionary. Negatively, it can be aloof, overly objective, unrealistic, dispassionate, impersonal, and overly detached.

The Sun is in a conjunction with Jupiter and Saturn which both entered Aquarius over a month ago and have recently been in an exact conjunction with each other on December 21st. Generally, this can reflect constructive energy around Aquarian themes and things such as technology, innovation, organizations, groups, humanitarianism, a collective, social networks, socialistic initiatives, science, idealistic or progressive pursuits. Individually it can also affect different areas of our lives depending on the layout of your personal natal astrology chart based on your birth time. Although this energy is affecting us over many years, it is highlighted very much throughout 2021 and especially during the weeks surrounding this Full Moon.

The Full Moon in Leo opposing this conjunction in Aquarius can reflect contention, a need for compromises, or integration between individual and collective needs, subjectivity and objectivity, fun and responsibilities, domestic matters and worldly pursuits, or passion and intellect. Certain aspects of ourselves or other parts of our lives might be at odds with something that we or others are trying to build or create. Mars and Uranus in Taurus are in a T-square with this opposition as they sit between the Moon in Leo and the planets in Aquarius. This can reflect disruptions, instability, surprises, sudden changes, rebellion, conflicts, impulsiveness, irritability, or erraticness connected to some of the themes mentioned above.

The urge to apply ourselves in a way that is freedom seeking in response to limitations can also come up. This combined energy can also be good for experimenting with different ways of doing things or efforts that are innovative, progressive, technological, or unconventional. At the time of this Full Moon Venus is in a conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn. This can reflect a deep, renewing, transformative, purging, empowering, evolutionary, passionate, jealous, intense, probing, investigative, or magnetic energy when it comes to relations, matters of love and attraction. Issues pertaining to shadows, control, power dynamics, or manipulation may also come up. In some cases it can also reflect a change around finances or values. On February 5th/6th, Venus will then join Saturn in a conjunction after it enters Aquarius. This can bring a serious and realistic energy to Venus ruled areas of relationships, finances, love, and aspects of our social life.

Themes around commitment, discipline, duties, responsibility, boundaries, restrictions, limitations, or maturity may come up in these areas. As Venus moves away from Saturn it will then be in a hard square with Uranus on February 6th/7th. This echoes some of the themes of this Full Moon (mentioned in the above section pertaining to the T-square) and can also play out as surprises, abruptness, irregularity, separations, loss, or non-conforming behavior. Neptune has been approaching a square with the Lunar Nodes in recent weeks which peaks during this final week of January. In general, Neptune energies/themes can be experienced more strongly at this time, either negatively or positively. We can apply Neptune in a way that helps us grow and move forward, or in a way that holds us back. Positively, Neptune is associated with creativity, compassion, empathy, spirituality, mysticism, inspiration, and oneness. Negatively it is associated with delusion, escapism, fantasy, deception, illusions, intoxication, addiction, and lack of boundaries. It is also associated with dreams, self-sacrifice, glamour, and ideals. This square can also reflect disillusionment regarding the past and/or the potentials of the future or confusion around facts and/or beliefs. Mercury is going retrograde in Aquarius on January 30th until February 20th/21st. It has been in its pre-retrograde shadow period from January 15th onward, and since then (or perhaps since January 8th) you may have already begun to experience the types of annoyances, delays, and complications associated with it. Some of the things that have transpired over the last month will contribute or be subject to some sort of adjustment, modification, new insights/realizations, or change in perception during this upcoming retrograde and in the weeks and following it. I will be writing a separate article on this, you can join my mailing list here to ensure that you receive it when it is published. What has come up for you in the last month that you feel like you need to revisit or revise? What are the dynamics/developments/circumstances around your friends or social network showing you? How can you express your authenticity and talents in a way that serves the collective or a group? Is there anything that you can be putting in place, or steps to take, to help you fulfill your passions, creativity, or the needs of children in your life? Are there new approaches to things that you’d like to experiment with? These are just some examples of themes that could come up during this period; however, there may be other variations of this energy playing out as well. If you wish to do any sort of intentional release connected to what has come up at this Full Moon, it is best to do so anytime over the two weeks following when it is waning.
