Hours Before Midterm Election, Facebook Deletes 35 Pages Including Conservative Page With 1.2 Million Fans
On Nov 5th 2018, Facebook deleted 35 more pages from their platform and 80 from Instagram..
They believed these pages were linked to foreign entities. We know this isn't true for at least 3 of them already. Are we further witnessing the modern book burning? At what point do we realize that playing into mainstream narratives is actually removing our freedoms? This is the first major election since the 2016 presidential election in the United States, and Facebook has really ramped up security. Or at least that’s the story.
The unsubstantiated Russian election meddling story has been the trigger that has politicians and people calling for Facebook to intervene and begin deciding what narratives and advertising can be on their platform. This has resulted in Facebook deleting many pages, including many independent media pages with millions of followers. This, another way to look at Facebook’s recent deletions is that this is the book burning of today, disguised as trying to protect against Russian meddling in elections. Any voices, ideas, truths we don’t like, just delete ’em. It’s also interesting to consider that the Russian’s have been used by US media and US politicians for decades to manipulate their public into submission. We’re still seeing it today. Onto the afternoon of Nov 5th, Facebook deleted 35 more pages from their platform “which they believe may be linked to foreign entities”, according to Facebook’s head of cybersecurity policy, Nathaniel Gleicher. All 115 accounts, 80 from Instagram and 35 from Facebook, for suspected “coordinated inauthentic behaviour.” They went on to further say “Almost all the Facebook Pages associated with these accounts appear to be in the French or Russian languages.” The company stated that they received a tip from US law enforcement officials. Again we’re seeing narratives that distract us from real issues, real conversations and instead make common conversation about an alleged enemy that is out there trying to take away the liberties of the people and meddle in elections. Yet we forget to consider that the antics we are seeing on the streets, or families at each other’s throats and the heated divide in the US are a direct result of our collective consciousness which has been seeded with ideas of hate and separation on purpose from the top down.
The childish nature of politics has become an incredible mirror for the childish nature of our collective consciousness. Divide and conquer – and we’re falling right into it. On Left, Nathaniel Glieicher, Facebook’s Head of cybersecurity. Of the pages that were deleted, it appears 3 of them were from American 21-year-old Addison Riddleberger. He is the founder of “many hot-button subjects through our Facebook distribution channel,” and was a former Conservative Tribune writer. He owned and managed pages like “Standing for Americans,” “Freedom Catalog” and “Patriotic Folks.” He recounts the story of what happened to his Facebook Pages on November 5th: “Just hours later, at 12:52 am on November 5th — 24 hours before election day — the vague Facebook emails notifying us of our removed pages began rolling in.
The emails were curt, but here’s the sentence that says it all: ‘Pages that are hateful, threatening, or obscene are not allowed. We also take down Pages that attack an individual or group, or that are set up by an unauthorized individual.’ “Our pages were not in violation of being ‘hateful, threatening, or obscene’, as we’ve published news nearly identical in tone for almost three years straight. Our pages were even vetted and approved for Facebook’s prestigious ‘Instant Articles’ feature, which has very strict rules about what kind of content can be published.” The interesting part is, Riddleberger had spent over $25,000 building his Facebook page via Facebook ads. After Facebook deletes those pages, that money is virtually gone down the drain. Is this something we want to support given he has done nothing wrong or not broken any policies? How does the mainstream media stay afloat when they consistently put out incorrect facts that create damaging narratives only to quietly retract them? Riddleberg’s story is not unique. We covered the recent deletion of many US owned and operated Facebook pages, all that were dissenting voices that veered away from what you might call mainstream media propaganda.
They instead expose truths, talk about issues from a different perspective and hold politicians accountable. In total, over 1000 pages have now been deleted by Facebook starting 2 years ago. Although they keep alleging they are suspicious accounts or linked to Russians, this isn’t the case with most of them. It’s simply a convenient narrative to oust powerful independent media voices. I talked about this in great detail in the video below. We have been talking about this for a long time, and have felt the reach and financial pressures of this censorship. Most viewers are often in the dark about how independent media outlets operate, so we decided to reveal all of that information here.
The reality is, if we don’t begin supporting independent conscious media outlets, in the same way mainstream viewers support mainstream outlets, we will not be around much longer.
There is a clear indication inside this movement that it’s time for a deep maturing. Many seem to feel that money is evil or somehow corrupts everyone. At this critical time, this very belief could contribute to the downfall of this entire space.
The reason is that we are now at a point where we have to directly support what we value in this space, plain and simple. It’s happening in the mainstream and millions are jumping on board. If we don’t want independent media to disappear, we have to do the same. We have elected for transparency and honesty with our company financials and plans to say “hey, we have to do this together!” We created a campaign called the Conscious Media Movement, encouraging readers and truth-seekers to join in and support what they feel is important in changing this world. You can join for only $3 a month to help keep conscious media alive. In all honesty and transparency, this is where things are at! By all means, share our content as much as you can if you cannot support financially, but if we don’t get this stuff funded, it will be gone. It’s systematically being shut down. Click here to support. And it’s very important that we build direct links to all our readers who want us to be in touch in case Facebook takes down our page as well. Sign up here to get our content via email.
