Significant Concentrations Of Glyphosate AKA ‘Roundup Herbicide’ Found In Urine Of People Across Europe
A German study that concluded in June 2013 has discovered a significant amount of glyphosate in the Urine of people and animals from all across Europe(1)(2)(3)..
The analysis of the urine samples found that all had concentrations of glyphosate at 5 to 20 times more than the limit for drinking water. Apart from being used increasingly in food production, glyphosate-based weedkillers are often sprayed onto railway lines, urban pavements and roadsides.
The study used the urine of city workers, journalists and lawyers who had no direct contact with glyphosate, so it’s interesting to see that it turned up in their urine samples -and this was from an urban population in Berlin.(3) Another study collected urine samples from 18 different countries from all over Europe(1) which showed similar results. To this day, Monsanto continues to advertise its Roundup products as environmentally friendly and claims that neither animals nor humans are affected by this toxin. Environmentalists, veterinarians, medical doctors and scientists however, have raised increasing alarms about the danger of glyphosate in the animal and human food chain as well as the environment.
The fact that glyphosate has been found in animals and humans is of great concern. In search for the causes of serious diseases amongst entire herds of animals in northern Germany, especially cattle, glyphosate has repeatedly been detected in the urine, feces, milk and feed of the animals. Even more alarming, glyphosate was detected in the urine of the farmers. (3) Glyphosate was invented in Switzerland in 1950, and first synthesized by Monsanto in 1970. Glyphosate is a broadband herbicide that kills almost all green plants. Monsanto and other corporations like Bayer pharmaceuticals genetically engineer crops that are resistant to glyphosate so it can effectively kill weeds between the crop plants. This method however, results in a glyphosate residue on crops which then enters the food chain of animals and humans. This study comes shortly after glyphosate was found to be contaminating groundwater(4). It’s well known that glyphosate can, has and does easily enter into our water supply(5), this is a worldwide phenomenon(6) that has been published in multiple health databases throughout the years(6). Given all of the information available that illustrates how harmful glyphosate is to human and animal health, isn’t it funny that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently raised the allowable concentrations of glyphosate on food crops? Recent studies have linked glyphosate to Autism, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease (7)(8). It doesn’t stop there, as studies have also linked glyphosate to cancer as well. (9) Collective Evolution has written multiple articles on glyphosate that outline and provide sources to illustrate how the same financial institutions who hold major shares within the biotech industry also hold major shares in the health and pharmaceutical industry. I’m not going to bother doing that this time because when it comes down to it, it’s all about making better choices in your life. Unfortunately not everybody on the planet can do this, but if you have the means to filter your water properly, as well as consume Non-GMO organic food then you should definitely do so.
There is no reason why we need to hand our power over to a handful of corporations and the financial institutions that run them. It’s time to create something better for ourselves here on Earth. Many people all over the world are feeling that a time for change has come, and many are taking action in order to create that change in the best way that they are aware of. Earth is now feeling the ripple effects from the large number of people who are becoming aware of information that was previously unknown. Simply awakening to these facts has huge ramifications for the future of our planet. Our perception of reality is shifting, and if we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change. An important step to creating change is becoming aware of the phenomena on our planet that do not resonate with us, and glyphosate is one of many things that the human race could do without.
