The New Scientific Reality Of Higher Impersonal Intelligence

The New Scientific Reality Of Higher Impersonal Intelligence

The scientific validation of “Oneness” or an immensely intelligent reality or consciousness in which order unfolds can help to inspire all of us to “unplug” from the mechanistic artificial surroundings we often experience, and reconnect with something–or as Eckhart Tolle says “no thing”–far deeper and more powerful. The thrust of modern science and philosophy is to make us question EVERYTHING.

The Simulation Hypothesis is just the latest in a series of scientifically based documentaries (like The Holographic Universe and What the Bleep?) that expand quantum physics, using understandable animation, to show how there is no actual separation between reality (unfolding events) and an observer — all phenomena involve both subject and object. Without either there is nothing. I first became interested in this paradigm when I studied philosophers like Martin Heidegger and Maurice Merleau-Ponty in college.

They took the original tenets of idealistic philosophy to contend that all phenomena are ineffably linked to “being” – and that there can be no world without a subjective element to comprehend it. At that time my professor was denied tenure by the Philosophy Department because he had not been widely published, and because his ideas ran counter to the logical positivist mainstream of modern materialist (Newtonian) philosophy. But much has changed since I left college.

The basics of quantum physics have served to validate “Phenomenology” and the sequencing of DNA have put into question the randomness of evolution and widened the scope of the theory of natural selection. Indeed, as Juan Enriquez and Steve Gullians write in Evolving Ourselves: How Unnatural Selection and Nonrandom Mutation are Changing Life on Earth, by editing and “copying and pasting” DNA we are beginning to directly impact our development as a species by our own intervention in the processes of life. (We covered this work in detail last May.) The notion of expanding genetics to include the environment has been covered by Bruce Lipton and others, and now forms the basis for the current best-seller, Super Genes: Unlock the Astonishing Power of Your DNA for Optimum Health and Well-Being by Deepak Chopra M.D. and Rudolph E. Tanzi Ph.D. Here the authors define the much wider scope of what they term the super genome. “This super genome is made up of three components: This system which harmonizes the organic functions of your body is not merely brain-based; rather it is a living intelligence that includes cranial functions (neurons have DNA), and points unmistakably to the fact that “you” are much more than a little man behind the eyes and between the ears. By making conscious lifestyle changes the authors describe how we can actually reprogram our own biology. Of course this can only happen within the broader context of understanding our relationship to our environment as an interdependent, living “super organism.” This widening concept of reality as an intelligent field is actually not new at all. In his latest book, More Than Allegory: On Religious Myth, Truth And Belief, Bernardo Kastrup continues the tradition of Joseph Campbell in deconstructing the most common “myths” and wisdom teachings of many civilizations to show that these stories comprise what Jung referred to as the Collective Unconscious. Bernardo treats these allegories not as fiction but rather as encoded truths that point to a wider notion of reality and man’s position as a part of an immensely intelligent and infinite natural order. And mainstream physicists are working to integrate this sense of an intelligent field into a more inclusive and comprehensive scientific paradigm. Here is Menas Kafatos describing “Observer-Based Science” at the Science and Nonduality Conference. “This underlying reality is universal Consciousness, which operates at every level of existence of the universe, the physical, the mental, the beyond. It is founded on the fundamental awareness, which is the true Self.

The Self projects the universe out of its own infinite existence, through a series of fundamental principles, which apply at all levels, by first separating Itself from Itself, in what appear as infinite numbers of objects. However, it never loses its own I-ness. In the unfoldment of the universe, qualia, the collection of vast numbers of subjective experiences, play a fundamental role, for all species, of all individual organisms. Perception is based on qualia, perception is in fact qualia.” Qualia — the sensations of color, texture and the emotional reactions that are associated with all human experience that comprise their “quality” cannot be accounted for in a purely materialist paradigm, or for that matter (pun intended) in Newtonian physics.

The quality of an experience can only appear and unfold within consciousness, and it is only by integrating the silos of philosophy, metaphysics, physics and biochemistry that we can get to a more profound relationship with the great mysterious universe in which we magically find ourselves. Deepak Chopra and Dr. Rudy Tanzi provide very practical guides for added well being by using the “software of life” for personal growth and health. In addition, by embracing the silence and eschewing the allure of distractions that are abundant in our technological world–cell phones, television, marketing and so on, and reconnecting to the natural intelligence of the universe, we can all contribute to the natural evolution of consciousness from chaos to order. .
