3 Ways Being Positive Differs from False Positivity of Fake People
The key to being positive is surrounding yourself with positive people, but being around fake positive people can be more toxic than being alone.
Being positive is an important part of a happy life. Life is richer when you surround yourself with happy and positive people, but genuine positivity can be hard to spot. Today, we live in a world of Instagram and Facebook, where influencers spread positive vibes with negative effects.
We live in a society where we are constantly looking at the lives of other people and comparing them to our own. We see girls on Instagram wearing lots of nice clothes and big smiles, but this isn’t always real life.
This fake positivity makes us feel that being positive comes from looking and living a certain way. It is dangerously toxic, leading us to feel as though our own lives aren’t good enough to be as happy as influencers seem to be on their social media.
This fake positivity filters into real life as we try to emanate this positivity in our own lives. We spend too much money on how we look, and not enough time on how we live. Truly being positive comes from the inside, not from how others see you.
The key to being positive comes from understanding the toxic nature fake positive people and how to spot them.
You’ve never seen them unhappy
We all need to embrace our feelings, even the negative ones. Feelings like disappointment, irritation or anger may be the ugly parts of human nature, but they are natural reactions to our circumstances. The easiest way to spot a fake positive person is the fact that you will never see them anything but happy.
Although happiness is key in being positive, this is only true for genuine happiness. When happiness is fake, it can actually be more toxic than good. When we suppress our emotions in an attempt at being positive, we tend to feel guilty or frustrated at our own negative feelings. We try to hide how we truly feel and can often let people get away with things we shouldn’t.
When we have negative feelings, although they aren’t pleasant, we have to deal with them properly. Embrace them and understand what is causing them. The only way to be genuinely positive is to deal with whatever is causing these negative emotions. When you are truly happy, then you will be truly positive.
They never fail
Unfortunately, failure is a natural part of life. We all have to fall down and get back up again to truly learn how to stand. Although it’s hard to manage failure sometimes, it is the hard times which make the good times so good. Being positive means accepting your failures and appreciating the lessons they brought with them.
Fake positive people will never let you know when they have failed but always let you know when they have succeeded. This can leave us feeling inadequate when we experience failure in our own lives. It can knock our confidence and cause us to hide our failures as though we have something to be ashamed of.
The more afraid we are of failure, the harder we work and can burn ourselves out, simply because we compare ourselves to a fake positive image.
In your journey for genuine positivity, it’s important to accept your failures and not to hide them. Showing your failures makes your successes even more obvious because you have learned from them. Being positive comes from understanding the journey you have taken to be where you are and who you are.
They’re all about image
We all care about how we look and want to look good, but there are times we look our absolute worst. Whether we’ve woken up too late and rushed to get ready or we’re simply having a bad day, we can’t look our best all the time. Accepting this is the most important step in truly being positive.
Fake positive people take image to the next level. They always look perfect, with expensive clothes and pristine makeup. What you don’t see is the time and effort (and probably money) they have put into looking that way.
There are very few people who can roll out of bed and look so well put together. Seeing the fake image that fake positive people portray can be hugely detrimental to our own self-image. We start putting too much effort into how we look and not into how we feel.
Genuine positivity vs. false positivity
Being positive isn’t the same as being naive or in denial. Being positive means that you have faith that solutions are available to any problem, as long as we are willing to listen and follow through on guidance to take positive action.

Genuinely being positive comes from genuinely being happy and neither comes from how you look. Although it can be a confidence boost to take good care of ourselves, image is not the most important part of life. Take the time to accumulate achievements, spend time with friends and have experiences that will give you a lasting happiness rather than a false image.
False positivity is, unfortunately, a growing concept in the society we live in, with powerfully negative effects. Take the time to see fake positivity for what it is and know how toxic it can be. The more we work on being happy, the less we need to work on being positive.
